The typical approach to question answering is to answer comprehension questions upon completion of the selection, but questions can be a part of a reading lesson at many points. As mentioned before, previewing questions can help students focus their reading. In addition, story stems that prompt students to complete a question can organize a cooperative learning experience as students read. Partners can take turns using story stems to quiz one another on the reading.
Suggested texts for wider reading are provided for each option at the end of Section 8 in this specification. Alternative texts may be used for wider reading, with the prior approval of the consortium adviser.
Other works can legitimately be either fiction or Nonfiction, such as letters, magazine articles, histories, websites, speeches and travelogues. Although they are mostly either one or the other it is not uncommon for there to be a blend of both, particularly non-fiction with a dash of fiction for added spice.
b. evaluate the influence of culture, text type, literary genre or historical period on the ways in which literary texts were written and were &ndash and are &ndash received.
In this unit, candidates will have opportunities for the exploration of creative interpretations, for transformational writing, and for tracing connections between texts.

This is an effective strategy for readers who have difficulty remembering and writing about what they have read. A summary can take many forms, including travelogues, journals, double-entry journals, and letters. For example, students can create a travel itinerary that summarizes the action of a narrative, can write a journal from a particular character's point of view, can set up a double-entry journal about the theme of a work, or can summarize events in a letter that one character writes to another.
To say it with Mark Twain, the 8775 mastery of the art and spirit of the Germanic language enables a man to travel all day in one sentence without changing cars 8775 . He 8767 s right. Sentences can ramble on and on, and when you finally reach the verb (which is conveniently positioned at the end) it can be tricky to remember what it even referred to.
There follow suggestions for finding material to support the chosen option for Unit 6. The lists have been compiled to include reading across genre, texts in translation and non-fiction texts.
Advice on the teaching and development of close reading skills is set out in the Teacher Resource material which accompanies this specification, in the accompanying text book for each option and provided by the teacher training and support offered by AQA.
The context question in Unit 6 is central to the whole AS course. It invites candidates to use appropriate references to their reading for the whole course in their response to a short, unprepared non-fiction prose extract, synthesising their knowledge and understanding of their wide reading within the shared context. Learning how to apply these skills to an unprepared text provides an appropriate foundation for the skills required in Unit 8 of A7.
Perhaps further confusing audiences at the time, Lange plays into the weird sexual undercurrents running just beneath the surface of the film. Her character recalls being able to reach the lifeboat only because she refused to remain below deck while the wealthy, older patron—to use a polite word—who promised to make her a star remained below deck to watch Deep Throat with his friends. She then spends the rest of the film getting drugged, tied up, kidnapped, and carried off by Kong, who cradles her, bathes her, and—just as the original Kong did with Fay Wray—tries to remove her clothes. Her reaction to this isn’t entirely the shock and horror that might be expected. When Kong dries her off by blowing on her gently, in fact, she looks enraptured.
Instead, Rambaldi made some giant ape hands to interact with Lange, and worked with makeup-effects expert Rick Baker to create a series of ape masks and a convincing ape suit, which Baker then wore to perform the part of Kong on a miniature set. The effect is, unavoidably, reminiscent of a Godzilla movie—to my eyes, charmingly so. De Laurentiis promised state-of-the-art, and though the publicity leading up to Kong ’s release played up the robot ape, only kids would mistake the Kong who gets the most screen time for anything but an extremely talented guy in a (mostly) first-rate costume.
Collecting some give-aways is always a good strategy for generating additional interest in the station and the event: beverages, food energy bars, reflective stickers, canvas bike bags, sun block samples, water bottles, patch kits, safety literature, local bike maps, etc.
Literary Nonfiction, Factual fiction, Documentary narrative, the literature of actuality. This powerful, ever-controversial genre is called by many names including Creative Nonfiction, which is definitely a growing and developing genre.
